Helping Your Small Business
Make a Big Impact Online
Why do Builders Need a Website?
Whether you are a self employed joiner or a larger construction company with several employees it's important to promote yourself effectively online to let people know what you do and how you can help with their building project.
When deciding to undertake a new building project many people will put a lot of thought and planning into it to make sure it's exactly what they want. This will often include researching local builders online to see who might be a good fit, and so your business needs to be able to impress them and convince them to get in touch.
How IRIS Can Help Your Business
We've worked with many building companies of various sizes, and one thing is common among them all. They are too busy with "real work" to be interested in designing and building a website. Often they find they are already spending way too much time in front of a computer ordering supplies, sourcing new materials, handling finances or dealing with emails. IRIS can help your building company get a great website quickly and easily.
Things To Consider
When creating a website for your building company there are a few things we would recommend you think about including.
List what you do and don't do
You obviously want to include what services you offer, but it's also worth including things you don't. For example if you prefer to work on larger house build projects you might not be interested in small maintenance work. Or if you only do commercial work you should make clear that domestic works are not something you offer. If you can recommend another local business that can handle the services you don't you could link to their website to direct people there instead. This helps clarify your services to the customer, and also helps you minimise unwanted enquiries for work you are not interested in.
Have an about page with photos
A common hurdle people face when approaching a building company, especially for domestic work is trust. They will be letting you into their home and trusting you to carry out the work required. One way to help gain trust is to have an about page telling people who you are, how long you've been in the trade, and any other information about you that might be relevant and helpful to build that initial trust with the client. Also consider including photos of other employees who are likely to be working on the job. They are the face of your company, so it's useful to include them too.
Include a gallery of previous works
IRIS makes it easy to include a gallery of images to let you show off some of your previous work. A gallery page is a great way to give someone an overview of the work you can do and the quality of workmanship they can expect. When you take photos of work you've finished it can also be useful to share this on social media to keep regular contact with potential clients.
